As the name suggests fixing is the positioning of the stone where desired on-site. Some stone can be unforgiving; it can be fragile or unstable, heavy or awkward to lift. However, once properly fixed even the most fragile stone should last the test of time just as well as the hardest, most stable granite. Marmi & Granito believe that stone fixed properly, evident in the precision of the jointing and the flatness of the surfaces, is the best advertisement for the beauty of stone. Along with the fixing of stone in contracted stonework, Marmi & Granito offer a fixing service for clients who have pre-purchased, or part-purchased, elements of their stonework. Before fixing a client's stone, Marmi & Granito will visit the proposed site to check the conditions and to advise the client on the necessary preparation of the surface where the stone will be fixed. Marmi & Granito is able to handle stone that is sent to the company and where possible will advise on the condition of the stone. This includes checking for damaged tiles or stones with bad variation, incompatibility in veining or tonality, and in the case of limestone, Marmi & Granito dry and pre-seal the stone before it goes to the site. Marmi & Granito only employ fixing methods that come under the governance of British Standards. However, their depth of experience in fixing stone, combined with the explosion of new technologies, has allowed them to push established practices to their limits resulting in innovative fixing methods and dramatic results for their clients. |
